Pauline Marcelle was born in Dominica, West Indies and currently resides and works in both Dominica and Vienna, Austria. She was educated at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna Austria and holds an MFA in Visual and Fine Arts. Her artistic practice encompasses various mediums such as painting, sculpture and video. Marcelle’s artworks delve into the complexities of human behaviour, examining the interplay of human interactions and the profound influence of their social and mental environments. Her works revolve around themes of consumption, sustainability, and resilience, exploring the visual and psychological aspects of human needs and desires. Marcelle adapts digital collages to painterly expressions, transforming them into pictorial forms. She continuously establishes and redefines relationships within her compositions, capturing the essence of the painterly and the photographic.
